Back to the Farmers Market

I am back shopping at the Farmers Market.  My family deserves the best and they have the best.  It was so nice to walk along Grand Avenue with my youngest joining in on the fun.  We got a few things but we still have to go to Sprouts or Henry's this morning in order to supplement what I could not find.

There were strawberries everywhere... the sweet sweet smell of them was intoxicating.  Although they were a little to expensive.  So my oldest (2 1/2 yrs old) decided that he wanted one anyways and snatched one when no one was looking.  My little sneaky boy... I told him that he was wrong to do it but he enjoyed his spoils.

We bought some of the most delicious Apple Pumpkin Spread from Valley Center... that was 1/2 of the $16 I spent.  But I got some lettuce, cabbage, cilantro and dill all for $1 each.  I also got some turnips to try along with some delicious buttery avocados... 3 for $2... can't beat that.

The Last Supper

So my family is going to start our road towards becoming vegetarians by giving up red meat.  My husband informed me that we should have steaks.  So I went to the store and purchase two yummy steaks, sweet potatoes and asparagus.  He threw them on the barbeque last night and we sat down with the A-1 and went to town.

It was delicious.  I have never denied the fact that I love a nice bloody steak... and I still don't.  But this step is towards better health and better awareness of where our food comes from.  Since more cattle in the US are fed corn causing e. coli to breed and taint the meat I vowed to purchase grass fed.  But the cost of it is hard to justify so we are leaving it out.

I will admit that I haven't had red meat in a few weeks and last night I could not sleep.  My stomache seemed upset... could it be the steak?  Or was it the delicious strawberry shortcake we has for dessert.  We will see...

Our next step is chicken...!!

The Beautiful Truth

This is by far the most important documentary that you will ever watch.  I thought that I was just taking my family on a journey towards better nutrition but it turns out... I am saving our lives.

The Beautiful Truth focuses on the research of Dr. Gerson.  He created a diet (more like a way of living) that can cure cancer... what?  I thought there was no cure for cancer.  He has cured countless patients over the years and his daughter Charlotte carries on his work.

The Gerson Institute is located right in my own backyard... in San Diego.  I had the cure right at my finger tips and I didn't know it.  I could have cured my father, uncle, grandpa and everyone else I loved that died from cancer... but I just didn't realize it.

But I now have the chance to spread this new found knowledge on to my friends and ultimately onto my children to keep them healthy and cancer-free for life.  I am so excited to get started.  Even my meat loving husband has decided to give it a try.

Dr. Gerson believed in a few principles... the first is a vegan diet.  I know that this is the most extreme diet you can think of but I am going to gradually head towards that direction with my family and help guide you along the way as well.  Dr. Gerson also believed in coffee enemas... not sure if we are going to head towards that one any time soon... will more likely be the last step.

I hope that you rent or buy a copy of The Beautiful Truth... it focuses back on the companies and regulators that are mentioned in Food Inc. and The Future of Food.  I hope you find it as impactful on your life as it has been on mine... good luck!!
